The idea
A message came through scrambled: its spaces are gone and extra letters, absent from the real message, have slipped in. Click the intruders to clear them until the message reappears — then guess what it describes: a historical figure, a place, an event…
The goal Clean up the scrambled message, then guess what it describes: a historical figure, a place, an event…
How to play
Animated example
-
Spot the intruders
The message has lost its spaces and five extra letters have slipped in. Each shows up two or three times, never in the same spot.
-
Clear them
Click a letter to clear it. A wrong guess costs nothing: the letter stays, and an intruder once found never hides again.
-
Who am I?
The decoded message is a clue. Type the answer (a person, a place, an event…) to finish the puzzle.
Good to know
- The puzzle’s theme (historical figure, place, event…) is shown next to the answer box.
- A counter keeps track of your errors.
- No idea? “I give up” reveals the answer.
Why “Cryptoh!”?
Cryptoh! joins crypto, as in cryptogram or decrypt, and oh!, the little cry you let out when you spot an intruding letter… or when you finally guess what is hiding behind the message. It sounds the same in English and in French.
